Mother's Day
Week 5
Today is a special day to celebrate our moms. Our mothers are a very special gift from God. On their special day, the best thing we can give to them is honor. Honor means showing respect!
How do you think we can do that?
Let's see what the bible says:
"Honor your father and your mother, as the Lord your God has commanded you, so that you may live long and that it may go well with you in the land the Lord your God is giving you."
Deuteronomy 5:16
Let's think of some examples of how we can honor our mom:

Who was Jochebed ?
Jochebed was the mother of Moses. When she gave birth to Moses, there was an order to kill all of the Hebrew baby boys. In faith, she didn’t kill her son, but hid him for three months. Pharaoh’s daughter found Moses in the river. Years later, he became the hero who led the Israelites out of Egypt into freedom. Read Exodus 2:1-4.
No mother is perfect; no one is! But, God uses our mothers to guide and direct us. She comforts us, protects us, and loves us so very much. Let's celebrate her today and thank God for her life.
Craft
The craft today is called an acronym. This is when you use the letters of a word to make more words.
We are going to make an acronym to honor our mom's on their special day. You can use the words MOM, MOTHER, or MADRE to make one that is special for your own mom. Be creative with color and drawings!
