Jesus loves to give second chances, no doubt about it!
What do we mean when we say Jesus gave us a second opportunity?
First, we have to start in the very beginning.
In the beginning, sin entered the world through a man. This made us separated from God. Because God is a righteous judge, there needed to be a price to pay for our sins. God says in His word that the penalty of sin is death. What you may not know is that even before the fall of man, the Father had already planned he would give us a second chance. A new opportunity to be free.
Can you guess what this opportunity was?
Imagine you lost one of your favorite toys. You would do anything to get it back, wouldn't you? Well, just as we were lost, a price needed to be paid to get us back.
Because Jesus loves us so much, he was willing to go and pay the penalty of sin. His act would glorify the Father and to free His people from sin. We didn't deserve this second chance but, because of Christ, we can now know God and be redeemed.
So what do we do now that we have this second chance?
When we ask Jesus to come into our heart, we are giving our lives back to him. Because we love Him, we live our lives in obedience and in gratitude to him. Thank you Jesus for your sacrifice and for giving us a second chance!
